Opportunities in Property

Thank you for your interest in becoming part of Nottingham City Council.

Do you want to take on a new challenge to make Nottingham a world-class city for everyone?

Nottingham is a vibrant, diverse, and ambitious city. We are home to the “Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change” and maintain a nationally leading position on carbon reduction with the ambition to be carbon neutral by 2028. We pioneered Early Intervention and Community Care models and maintain award-winning parks, leisure, and cultural facilities for the benefit of our citizens. Our transport system is celebrated nationally and internationally. Nottingham has one of the youngest populations of any major UK city, two Universities make up our world-class educational offer and we have seen huge growth in digital content, life science, and clean technology. Our ambitions stretch to creating a solid future for Nottingham ensuring our citizens, businesses, investors and visitors can enjoy a flourishing Nottingham. We are passionate about tackling inequalities in all we do.

The council’s staff, services, and strong partnerships played a major part in supporting the city through the Covid 19 pandemic, and there have been other challenges too which have put huge pressure on the council’s finances and led to external support being provided to help the council with its recovery. The Council is making good progress on its transformation and improvement journey and remains hugely ambitious for the city and its residents with a major devolution deal with government being recently confirmed. Whilst we have significant levels of deprivation, be in no doubt we are ambitious for our people and ambitious for our place as described in our new Strategic Council Plan. We are on the cusp of something exciting – a new era for Nottingham.

Property is front and centre in driving the Council’s improvement journey. The Council is transforming its Property Services through the introduction of a best practise “Corporate Landlord” model drawing together strategic and transactional property activities, hard and soft facilities management and the management of operation buildings. Integral to this is the restructure of, and recruitment to, the Strategic Assets and Property team. The function delivers strategic planning of the Council’s physical assets together with the development and implementation of associated Strategy, Policy, change management and asset challenge. The management of the council’s significant commercial and investment property portfolios and development, disposal, and valuation activities. We have a committed and skilled existing workforce but now need to bolster that with a number of key appointments to bring in additional resource and skills.

We offer development opportunities, a competitive benefits package, together with a challenging and rewarding roles that provides scope to be innovative and make a significant contribution to the council and its property services.

If you are interested in one or more of these opportunities and have the ability and track record to deliver our aspirations, we would be delighted to receive your application.

We look forward to discussing these roles with you.
